
Nissan Vehicle Service Warning Indicators
Are you familiar with vehicle service warning lights? Understanding what each warning light indicates is important to keeping your car in good condition. Here are 10 indicators and their functions.

Airbag Fault
The sensor for the airbags work continuously while the engine is on and while you are driving. If any issue arises with any part of the airbag system, this warning light will show up on the dashboard. This light could indicate that one or more of your airbags is malfunctioning.

Low Fuel Level Warning Light
This is to warn the driver of fuel running low. This doesn't mean that the fuel tank is empty, though, as there will be some fuel left.

Oil Pressure Warning Light
This light indicates low oil pressure in your engine. If you see this light, you should turn off the car immediately. Low pressure can greatly damage your engine.

Service Vehicle Soon
This light warns there are some minor issues with the car's engine or components. It could indicate a bad spark plug or that it's time to change the oil.

TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)
The tire pressure monitoring system is designed to monitor the real-time air pressure within the tires. This electronic system will relay information regarding the tire pressure to the driver.

Slip Indicator
This warning light is letting the driver know that the Vehicle Stability Control and/or the Traction Control are activated. This light could indicate that there might be a problem with those two systems as well.

Charging System Warning Light
The battery light should remain on while the car is off and should disappear when you start the engine. If the battery light is on while you are driving, it means that either the battery or alternator has an issue.

Brake System
These brakes include a warning light that will appear if there is something wrong with the system or if the brakes have been disabled. ABS is still is necessary for emergency stopping, and while driving through slippery conditions, so it's good to get that checked if the light appears.

Open Door Warning Light
A common warning that appears for people, the open door warning light is a safety warning turns on when a door isn't fully closed. It also appears when the trunk door hasn't been properly shut. Driving with a door that isn't fully closed can be very dangerous.

Coolant Level Warning
When this light is shown on the dashboard, it usually indicates low coolant levels. If the coolant levels are sufficient, but the light is on, it could also be an indication that there is something wrong with the coolant tank sensor, possibly a malfunction.
