Last year, the Pathfinder got several significant updates. They included the addition of USB-C ports. Devices with USB-C ports are becoming more popular because they can be charged faster. New advanced driver assistance aids, like blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control, also become standard on the SV trim level and above last year as well. As of 2019, there is also a new paint color, called Mocha Almond Pearl, available. Thanks to all of these updates, no real changes were deemed necessary for 2020. In total, drivers have four different trim levels to look at for the new Pathfinder. Each trim has slightly different standard features to offer. For the entry-level S, the Pathfinder is equipped with an 8" touchscreen, Bluetooth, two USB ports, keyless entry and ignition, tri-zone automatic climate control, and roof rails. The next option available to consumers is called the SV. Going with this trim means getting fog lights, automatic headlights, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather for the steering wheel, and a power-adjustable driver's seat. Standard on the SL and optional on the SV are weather-related features such as heated side mirrors, a heated steering wheel, and heated front seats. The SL also gets leather upholstery, heated second-row seats, and much more. The ultimate version of the Pathfinder called the Platinum, gets ventilated seats, stylish wood interior accents, a panoramic sunroof, and a 13-speaker audio system.
All models of the new Pathfinder get the same well-loved engine. It is a 3.5L V6, and it gives drivers 284-horsepower as well as 259 lb-ft of torque. Working with this engine is a very smooth-shifting continuously variable transmission. All models are capable of towing up to 6,000 pounds.
The Nissan Pathfinder is no slouch when it comes to safety. Already, the 2020 model has been named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and five-stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This is due, in part, to the standard and available driver assistance aids. Standard on all models are useful features such as forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking. They all also have reverse parking sensors to make life easier. Available on certain trim levels are things such as a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control.
