Standard Automatic Emergency Braking Coming to New Nissan Cars in 2018

Nissan Automatic Emergency Braking

One million new Nissan cars will be getting the automaker’s advanced Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system as standard starting in 2018.

This impressive news is truly exciting and should make the latest editions of these new Nissan cars even more popular with Phoenix-area drivers.

Among the models that will be getting the new AEB system include:

  • Pathfinder
  • Altima
  • Murano
  • LEAF
  • Rogue
  • Maxima
  • Sentra

"The big news here is that we're making AEB standard across all grades of our best-selling models," said Michael Bunce, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America, Inc. "This increased AEB availability is part of our ongoing commitment to help reduce fatalities while realizing our comprehensive vision of Nissan Intelligent Mobility.”

Automatic Emergency Braking utilizes sophisticated radar technology to monitor a car’s proximity to other vehicles on the road. If the systems detect a possible collision, AEB will alert the driver with a series of warnings. If the driver does not respond, the AEB system will apply the car’s brakes to either help avoid the accident all together or reduce the speed of the car if impact cannot be avoided.

Nissan is hoping that by making this technology standard across several of their most popular models the majority of rear-end collisions can be mitigated.
