Nissan was a big winner at this year's annual Texas Truck Rodeo held by the Texas Auto Writers Association in Spring Ranch, Texas. The brand ended up collecting not one but five awards during the event; four for the all-new 2016 Titan XD and one for the brand-new Nissan Murano. The Titan XD was even lucky enough to earn the competition's highest honor, Truck of Texas, proving Nissan has what it takes to rule the full-size pickup segment.

To determine which of today's trucks have what it takes to leave buyers impressed, TAWA journalists spent two whole days testing models from some of the auto industry's leading brands. They pushed each one to its limits and discovered which one stood out from the rest. When the evaluations were complete, the judges named the Nissan Titan XD 2015 Truck of Texas. The Titan XD Platinum Reserve was also named Luxury Pickup Truck of Texas and the Titan XD PRO-4X was crowned Off-Road Pickup Truck of Texas. Additionally, the Titan XD's Cummins 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel won the Best Powertrain award and the all-new Nissan Murano was given the Mid-Size SUV of Texas title.

"Of the hundreds of thousands of miles driven during the development of the all-new 2016 TITAN XD, the miles driven by the truck experts of the Texas Auto Writers Association were the most critical miles driven to date as we prepare to launch our new truck," said Fred Diaz, senior vice president, Sales & Marketing and Operations, U.S.A., Nissan North America, Inc. "This prestigious Truck of Texas award gives us tremendous validation heading into the TITAN XD launch in December. We are humbly honored to accept this award."
