When Nissan designed the all-new Maxima sport sedan, they wanted it to exude luxury. They went to great lengths to give the model a premium look and feel, which included incorporating material from Italy's very own Alcantara S.p.A. Outfitted on exotic cars and apparel across the world, the suede-like material (better known as Alcantara), was utilized on the Maxima SR sport package. Virtually absent in the standard full-size sedan segment, the use of Alcantara has taken Nissan to new heights and given them a leg up on the competition.
Aware of Alcantara's presence on high-end performance vehicles, Nissan thought it would be a great addition to the all-new Maxima sport sedan. The only problem was that Nissan's production facility is situated in Smyrna, Tenn., while Alcantara S.p.A. is based in Milan, Italy. For a brand committed to localizing production, this proved to be an inconvenience for Nissan, but due to the advantage they would have by associating the Nissan name with Alcantara, they decided to ship the material from Italy. It now arrives in bolts to Nissan's seating supplier and is applied to the door trim, steering wheel and seats in Maxima SR models.
Soft yet firm, Alcantara perfectly complements the Maxima SR's athletic aesthetic and provides a touch of luxury. Come down to Pinnacle Nissan to see our collection of Alcantara-equipped Maxima SR models in stock now.
