Finding out that your car will not start can cause you to panic. Our team here at Pinnacle Nissan would like to discuss some of the more common reasons you may experience this. No matter what the issue ends up being, know that our service department can help you diagnose and fix it.
1. Bad Battery
A dead battery is the first thing that comes to mind for many people when their car will not start. While other things can be the real problem, a dead battery is certainly a possibility. If your dome lights and headlights do not turn on, this may indicate battery issues.
2. Clogged Fuel Filter
Over time, gunk can build up in your vehicle's fuel filter. The result is your engine not getting enough gas to function. The exact frequency that a fuel filter needs to be replaced depends on your specific make and model.
3. No Gas
On the other hand, maybe your engine is not getting enough gas because the tank has run dry. If you were hoping that you had a little left to get gas in the morning, it could just be that your luck ran out. Alternatively, your fuel gauge may be faulty.
4. Ignition Problems
Your ignition is another part that will wear out over time, resulting in your car not starting. You will need to have your vehicle brought in for an inspection to see if this is the problem.
5. Issues with Starter
A small electric motor that is attached to your battery, the starter, is responsible for turning on the engine when you turn the ignition. Do you hear a clicking noise when you are turning your key? This may be a clue pointing toward starter issues.
