The Nissan LEAF stands out as a top-tier electric vehicle, ranking #2 in its class—a notable achievement in a highly competitive market. While the LEAF already boasts a range of appealing features, recent updates have further enhanced its popularity and competitive advantage.

Fermata Energy Bidirectional Charger

A key new addition to the LEAF is the Fermata Energy Bidirectional Charger. This cutting-edge charger not only allows the LEAF to draw energy from the grid but also sends energy back. This pioneering technology makes the LEAF the first electric vehicle in the U.S. capable of both charging from and returning energy to the grid. The charger offers several attractive features. It can store energy for future use or help drivers save money by feeding unused electricity back into the grid. In terms of safety, the charger meets industry standards, such as UL and CHAdeMO, and has been approved by Nissan for use with the LEAF.

The V2X Platform

In addition to the Fermata charger, Nissan has integrated the V2X platform with the LEAF. This smart software works in tandem with the charger, boosting the LEAF’s power by up to 33%. The platform meets industry standards and is designed to reduce production costs, benefiting consumers with lower prices. This advanced technology is being installed at Nissan dealerships and is also available for fleet customers. Importantly, it does not affect the LEAF's warranty and has been compatible with certain LEAF models since 2013, depending on the state.
