The Nissan LEAF continues to attract customers year after year, according to the annual IHS Automotive Loyalty Awards. The bestselling electric hatchback was awarded the top spot in the “Non-Luxury Traditional Compact Car” category at the Loyalty Awards, which looks at automotive brands to see which ones keep customers coming back.

"We know that Nissan LEAF drivers love the benefits of driving electric—zero spending on gas, quick acceleration and the feeling of driving an environmentally friendly vehicle, to name a few—which is why so many LEAF owners come back and buy another LEAF," said Andrew Speaker, Nissan's director of Electric Vehicle Sales and Marketing.

The results of this year’s awards were announced at the Automotive News World Congress, which was held at this year’s Detroit Auto Show. The LEAF was shown to garner lots of enthusiasm from drivers around the country, with customers saying they will continue to purchase the electric hatch.

The LEAF has sold over 200,000 cars worldwide since its release, making it a worldwide bestseller. This model year, the LEAF has added a whole new powertrain to its list of impressive amenities; one that increases its electric driving range by an impressive 27 percent.
