With the onslaught of young, tech-savvy shoppers approaching the driving age, Nissan knows it has to shake up how it approaches new car buyers. The days of grasping buyers' attention with a car design that conveys quality and power are slowly fading away as today's youth is more interested in virtually sharing their experiences while on the go. To appeal to this growing group of drivers and develop ideas for future vehicles, Nissan created an unconventional concept, known as Teatro for Dayz, for this year's Tokyo Motor Show.
The Teatro for Dayz concept throws all common elements of car designing out the door. Inside the vehicle, all you will find is a steering wheel, two pedals and white seats. This may seem too plain to some, but there's actually a method to Nissan's madness. The interior styling features Nissan's "Future Canvas" concept, which utilizes an array of LED screens throughout the car that can be altered in seconds.
"The interior can be visually altered according to one's mood, for playing games, and in the blink of an eye to surprise friends," said Satoshi Tai, executive design director at Nissan. "What Teatro for Dayz is, how it's used, and what it could become are all up to the share native's imagination."
In addition to this perk, air conditioning and the audio system can be controlled through motion sensors and voice activation. The interior seats are also shaped like balance balls, while the car's exterior design features simple, non-aggressive lines and additional LED displays.
