Nissan is on a mission to give the current GT-R model a more premium feel before eventually introducing the next-generation GT-R. This news comes straight from the GT-R's program manager, Hiroshi Tamura, who feels it's time for Nissan to improve the quality of the car and take its appeal up to the next level.
When Tamura recently revealed Nissan's aim to improve the GT-R, he wasn’t talking about power. With an array of high-performance GT-R’s released over the years that have been tuned for track racing, Tamura has plans to spend more time focusing on the sport car's interior quality and driving dynamics instead.
"I want to make the GT-R more premiere… not just fancy, but real premium, quality. Handling quality, ride and comfort quality, NVH quality, some high quality in the body construction… we still have big opportunities here," said Tamura during a recent discussion with Top Gear.
Aside from this, Tamura would not say just what he had in mind for the GT-R before it’s replaced with the next-generation model in a few years, but he did hint that a Nismo RS model of the current GT-R would be unlikely.
