Cars.com's official "Top 10 Cheapest New Cars You Can Buy" list is out and Nissan was the only car brand to have two models make the cut: the 2014 Sentra and Versa. An honor for the automaker, the cars were easy picks for the list due to their outstanding value and incredible fuel economy ratings.
While putting together the list, editors at Cars.com paid special attention to cars with low sticker prices, destination fees and minimal fuel costs over an eight-year time span. Both the Sentra and Versa surpassed their expectations and were selected for the final list. With a starting price of $16,790 and an estimated 34 mpg combined hwy/city, the 2014 Nissan Sentra S came in tenth, while the 2014 Nissan Versa S, touting a starting price of $13,790 and 35 mpg combined hwy/city, placed third.
"Both Sentra and Versa Sedan feature notable fuel economy, advanced technology options, and an economical starting price that even the most frugal buyers can appreciate," said Dan Mohnke, vice president, Nissan Chief Marketing Manager & Marketing Operations. "In addition to impressive fuel economy and advanced technology, Sentra features a high-quality interior design with soft-touch instrument panel and door armrests, while Versa Sedan offers the most rear legroom in its class. We're providing our buyers more for each dollar they pay, and we're honored to be recognized by Cars.com."
